Website Updates

You may notice the right column of the website has some new features.  The ability of the web to do almost all our organization is fairly amazing.

About a year ago I wanted some kind of web-based calender that did not cost $8000 and was easily updated by the public...voila, Google hands it our over their website.  The Google Calender option is a very easy tool to add your important neighborhood events.

The other feature is a social networking map..centered in this case on Peabody Square, the emerging hotbed of the ...well...next BIG thing.  Again you are invited to add your own sites to the map.
I hope it helps.

MINUTES AND PRESENTATION BOARDS FROM 9/21/04 MEETING

The following files were discussed at the public meeting at the Englewood Apartments on September 21.
Please take the time to familairaize yourselves with the topics that were discussed.

Overall the development parcel was well-received by the community. The developer and the MBTA plan to hold a joint meeting with the community on October 18th to discuss construction phasing and pick-up/drop-off logistics.

Creating a Vision for the Future of Peabody Square :: St. Mark's Area Main Street

Creating a Vision for the Future of Peabody Square :: St. Mark's Area Main Street

Saint Mark's Area Main Street is hiring Gail Sullivan Associates urban planners to work with us on the Peabody Square planning project, which will now include the entire SMAMS district (from Mercier Ave. to Melville Ave). Gail Sullivan had noted that there were not enough businesses in the Square itself to drive an economic revival, so the expanded project will have more of an impact. The new process will produce two planning documents, one focusing on the Square and another on the entire district.

We will hold two large community gatherings and two smaller workshops geared specifically to businesses and commercial property owners. Businesses and commercial landlords are invited to come to the large gatherings as well.

The large group meetings will be held in mid-March and early April. We are still working to confirm the dates and locations. This time frame will allow Gail to prepare for the meetings and will give SMAMS time to publicize them. Please help us in this by telling your neighbors and any businesses you frequent in the district.
